Frequently asked questions

What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is an extremely advanced and highly effective method of manual exfoliation that consists of using a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently shave off the top layer of dulling dead skin cells and fine vellus hair in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion.

Who should not have dermaplaning done?

While dermaplaning is great for most people, there are some people who should avoid having the procedure done including those with:

  • Hyper-sensitive skin

  • Inflammatory skin conditions such as rosacea, eczema and psoriasis

  • Inflamed acne or for facial hair removal for those with hormone imbalances

  • Tendency to keloiding, scarring, and/or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation

  • Hemophilia, healing disorder, and/or uncontrolled blood pressure

what is waxing?

Waxing is a form of semi-permanent hair removal which removes the hair from the root. New hair will not grow back in the previously waxed area for four to six weeks, although some people will start to see regrowth in only a week due to some of their hair being on a different human hair growth cycle

Who cannot be waxed?

Sadly, not all can be waxed. People who should avoid waxing include those:

  • With psoriasis, eczema, and/or undiagnosed rashes/blisters on the site to be treated

  • Prone to keloids and scarring or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation

  • On certain medications such as blood thinners, antibiotics, Accutane, and/or steroids

  • Under the age of 18, unless written parental consent is given. Your parent/guardian would need to come into the studio to sign a consent form.

Can I get waxed if I am on my period or pregnant?

The answer is yes, you can be waxed throughout your pregnancy and while on your period, although you will be certainly more sensitive.
